HTC Touch HD2 BETA Version with additional noise filter
A beta version of Run.GPS for HTC Touch HD2 with an additional GPS noise filter can now be downloaded. The modified software can and will be used for all devices after it has passed all beta tests. The added filter is an incremental version of the Douglas-Peucker algorithm. The modification has impact only on distance calculation (and related values like average speed etc.), but not on the track itself.
We are currently testing a new software release with an additional module for filtering out noisy GPS data (like in the HD2). The new release should appear in about 2 weeks, but we'll post a beta earlier here in this forum.
Inquiry Type: Technical Support
Inquiry Description: There seems to be a big a problem with the accuracy of the GPS receiver on the HTC HD2. I am using a running application connected to the internal GPS receiver. This used to work perfectly on my Touch Cruise (Polaris) and my Touch HD (Blackstone), but on the HTC HD2 it is often showing too high speeds and the total distance is too high. I uploaded the data in Google Earth and it is obvious that the track receorded by the HD2 is very irratic and not a straight line. Many other users have reported this on the XDA developer site, so there must be a problem with the GPS receiver itself. Can this not be fixed?
New Response From [ Richard (UK - Ireland Support (Tech)) ]

HD2 GPS ungenau
Hallo,

The test is done with the new settings.
Distance:
Reference Google Earth: 0,88km
HTC Kaiser: 0,88km (Done this test two times, both 0,88km)
HTC HD2 without settings, first test: 1,30km
HTC HD2 with some new settings, second test: 0,98km
The second test is a lot better, but 100m to much.
Perhaps i can figure out some better values.
I´ll let you know soon, how i made this.
