Some success!

I have been trying a number of system changes to get the program to run without dying.
Two setting changes in WM5 seem to make a difference and the RunGPS program works for a complete training session.

1. Disable the system error reporting. Start - Settings - System - Error Reporting.
2. Changed CPU Run Mode from Auto to Normal. Start - Settings - System - Power - CPU Mode.

I cannot explain the result but RunGPS seems to run better.

I admit it is early days in the testing and have posted this suggestion for others to try and report back.

Happy with V2.3.7b

For the time being I'm happy with my downgrade to V2.3.7b on my HTC.
I don't plan to reinstall V2.3.8 but when a next release appears I'll give it a new try.

Further fuel for the fire.

When I started the RunGPS program today the system immediately shut down before any welcome screens could be displayed. It did however restart successfully.

I had tested an Atlas map successfully for 32 mins of training with out a mishap. The shutdown occurred when I restarted the program.

This is the only program in my PDA that is not functioning correctly!

For me as well with V2.3.8 on HTC Touch Diamond2

I upgraded my V2.3.7b to 2.3.8 and the program is suffering from unstable behaviour, including a spontaneous crash this morning after about 12 minutes. I had to reboot the OS to be able to restart runGPS.
I downgraded to V2.3.7b to check whether this is OS or runGPS version related.

It has started happening again with V2.3.8

I installed version 2.3.8 recently and now RunGPS software runs for short periods of time (18 mins to 1 hour) before the program closes. I thought is might be a memory problem but RunGPS is reporting over 34 MB of free memory.

Any other suggestions?

Is anyone monitoring these discussions?

Reloaded Operating System and all applications.

Thank you for you comment!
I had come to the same conclusion. As I had previously reloaded RunGPS several times with out correcting the problem, I then loaded a slightly newer version of Windows Mobile 5 and then re-installed all my application software.

So far (only one major test, 3 hour training session) all is working well again!

I will add to this discussion if the problem re-occurs.

RunGPS stops operation during training sessions requiring a program re-start

I have been running RunGPS very successfully for several years on an ASUS Pocket PC running Windows Mobile V5.
For the last few months the program intermittently stop running and requires a re-start during training sessions.
Unfortunately I am not aware that the program has stopped and I end up with incomplete training information.

What I have tried to remedy the problems is:
1 Free up memory
2 Severely thumped the PC to see if there was a hardware problem causing the shut down
3 Re-installed RunGPS in Memory rather than on the SD card.

Unfortunately none of these have provided the desired solution, that is the ability to record a complete training session.

I am running version 7.3.7b 2070 of Run GPS.

Do I have an installation problem?
Is it a RunGPS problem?

I need your assistance please!

Frank
