Thanks admin - this is why...

Many thanks for adding this requirement to the enhancement list. Just to clarify why this is important to me: I want to be able to track my training activities over the years so the records of all of my training sessions need to be in one place where they can be analysed. As I have 200 or so training sessions in GPX, which were recorded with SportsTracker, I'd like to get them into Run.GPS / GPS-Sport so I can compare what I do now with old sessions and track trends over time.

It's odd as I can't see why you don't see this as a potentially strong selling point for your software and service. Am I missing something? Do others store their training sessions some other way and do historical views / trends with other software?

Thanks, Richard

Exporting GPX is already possible from any recorded training session (file by file, not batch).

Importing GPX files as trainings (not routes) does not make so much sense to us yet, but we have put it on the list of enhancement requests.

Hi admin - any chance of an answer please?

Thanks for the information admin. Given the limitations of the import functionality in GPS-Sport.net, what is the process for submitting enhancement requests?

It seems obvious to me that if we want to track our progress over a period of time then sensible import and export of standard GPX files is a must to allow us to move to new software and online hosts (just as I want to move to you now). I realise I may be the only person who wants this but if so that should become clear through the enhancement request process.

Thanks,
Richard

Difference between Trainer UV and Trainer UV Pro: yes, trainings plans can be created with any licence on GPS-Sport.net, but you can only use them on your Smartphone if you own the "Pro" version.

Regarding GPX upload: a training session always comes from Run.GPS and not from different sources because there's more data in it than what's inside a GPX file. A route is a simple track recording (e.g. from a GPX file), which can be used for navigation.

Can someone answer me please?

Now that my Run.GPS trial period has expired I have to decide whether to buy a licence. I can see that it is a very sophisticated piece of software with many functions, but the lack of an answer to my last message (the bug of not being able to import a previous *training session* in GPX format) does not give me confidence that my money will be well spent.

It could be that I have not understood something correctly - may be the difference between a "track" and a "route" (and I want to upload a "training session")?

If admin or any other Run.GPS folks could answer my question I would appreciate it.

Also (and separately) I am not sure I understand the difference beteeen the standard and PRO versions. For example, two of the extra functions described as being in the PRO version of Run.GPS are creating personal training plans and getting reports, but from what I can see I can do both of those on the Run.GPS web site even with the standard licence. Have I misunderstood this?

Thanks,
Richard

Even worse than I thought...

Thanks for the quick response, admin, even though it isn't what I wanted to hear!

However, I've just noticed that the gps-sport.net upload function is not behaving properly even on a one-by-one upload. I have GPX files exported from SportsTracker on my Nokia phone, each of which represents a training session. Using the "Upload" function in gps-sport.net and selecting "GPX Track", I would have thought my training session would then be shown in gps-sport.net under "My Trainings".

But it isn't. Each GPX file is interpreted as being a "Route" - whether I select "GPX Track" or "GPX Route" - against which there is no training data.

Can you explain what is happening and how I get this to work? These files are as far as I know in standard GPX format; I can upload them to SportyPal very simply, where they are interpreted perfectly.

I am comparing Run.GPS and SportyPal before parting with any money. Buying Run.GPS really has to be worth it when SportyPal is free.

Many thanks,
Richard

No, I'm afraid this functionality does not exist yet ...
Also I can't think of a workaround to get it done :-(

Request for function for batch upload of GPX files

I am migrating from Nokia SportsTracker to Run.GPS and have 200 GPX files from my training sessions recorded with that software.

Obviously it would be good to have the full history of my training sessions in one online system (i.e. Run.GPS) so I would like to be able to point the Community Server at the folder on my PC which contains the 200 or so GPX files and for them all to be imported automatically. Uploading them one by one will take forever.

Can you please let me know if this functionality is there now, or if it will be introduced soon?

Thanks,
Richard
