I find, that it is not import for someone where I live. Maybe it will be possible to add a privacy feature that the start point and endpoint will not be visible for anyone within 500 Meters/or whatever. So no one can see where I live exactly :)
I hope that developers are taking into consideration people's care about their's privacy. I would not be suprised if this point of view (care about privacy - if you can't manage it) could be one of the bigger obstacle for increasing number of users.
For some users like me possibility to share information with friends would be great option.
So I hope that developers will done therir job great (as usual).
That's right - currently profile privacy options only hide information on the user's profile page. That person's trainings still appear on the global map and anyone can navigate to a 'hidden' training by finding them on the map.
As the developers work on improving the privacy options, they will have to consider this as well. I'm sure this is one of the aspects that makes this more complicated than we users assume it to be.
I am not sure but solution mentioned by the_doctor2k face "Homepage" only. Information about traings (place, data, nick of athlete) is presented on Portal independetly? Am I right?

Hi colleagues,
I understand the_doctor2k's point of view and I respekt of athletes community mentioned by recneps. So what about possibility to share personal information with added or invited Friends only?
Hi recneps, thanks for help,
Although i appreciate the social aspect im too much of a privacy fiend to fully immerse myself in it.
The rungps tool and website are however fantastic tools for tracking own fitness!
thanks again
On your profile page, there is a link on the left titled "Edit this page". At the bottom in the pink area are the instructions for enabling privacy options.
Keep in mind that while enabling privacy, you defeat the aspect of sharing athletic experiences with each other and the social aspect of the site. If you want to preserve this, then you could only record trainings that don't originate/end at your home or work. Just a suggestion.
Hi all,
I have just joined and think that this is clearly a well designed and implemented service. I am a happy runGPS user and am generally impressed. I would like to use GPs-sport.net to track my trraining and plan routes etc but am worried about the privacy settings available. I cant find a way to make my profile private, ie totally private except to those i explicitly tell. Also it strikes me as trivial once obtaining an email address to find someones home address and daily running / biking routes. Have i just missed some privacy settings or can anyone offer suggestions to help me ensure this data isnt available (ie regular purging of saved routes etc)
