i780 No Fix
Klex,
i use to have that problem too, the GPS module in the i780 is not as high-end as a seperate gps, or navtecs like TomTom.
I usually startup Route66 on my i780 which gets a faster fix when 'cold-boot' (faster meaning within 10 minutes! don't be fooled to think you will have a fix within a couple of seconds when you did not use the GPS for some hours! Read on the inet on how GPS-fix works)
If you do not have a navtec program on your i780, just startup RunGPS, and leave it outside in a spot with clear view of the skies, after some minutes you will get a fix :)
Note that you might get some 'GPS (still) weak' during running, speeds below 15Km/h are hard for the GPS to trace.
Though the signal says its weaker in RunGPS than it says in Route66 (Route66 finds more sats) this is a problem of our i780, still its very usefull and i would not suggest buying another phone :)
What setting do you guys use with the i780.
When I choose "windows managed" run.gps says connected succesfully but no signals appear and I'm not getting a fix.
Can someone please help, I'd like to gt it working on my phone.
It's ok, i will crash it again in a few and type the most important info (whole file is 199Kb, a bit too much :)
For the speek, Unchecking the setting for the MIO hotfix was indeed the solution, i just recieved distance and speed :), now lets hope the weather is good enough to run this afternoon :)
i will post the crash report soon, thank you sofar!
I get a Windows Error Report, is there a way of exporting these so i can attach them here? (i found the folder where they are stored, but they are propriatary binary format)
of course the application shouldn't crash. Can you describe what exactly happens? Do you get an error message? If so, I would greatly appreciate to have the first two lines of the detail message, going something like this: a.b() g.fe()
Thank you, indeed the setting was checked. I unchecked it now and will try to go outside and try it in a minute (it is raining cats and dogs now). I will update you as soon as i have tested it :)
A bit Off-Topic but something that really annoys me, when i accidently switch off my telephone (to save energy) or when the 'screensaver' kicks-in, the application crashes when i start it up again. I know its not fair to ask the application to keep on running whilst the phone is in power save (not really switched off, if someone calls the screen comes on again) but it would be much appriciated if the application did not crash, since when i take it out of my belt (behind my back) i sometimes accidently touch the switch, and render my run useless :(
No speed after start training, only time is working
Hi,
After some fidling arround with the GPS settings (i think the Manual COM4/4800 over autosetting did the trick) i finally got the Fix working, i now have DOP from below 1 to 6 avg and a good fix (only loose it underneath bridges or in dense forrest after rain). If i start my training, i can see the time running, and the lady tells me of all the intervals.
Problem is that somehow it does not see i am moving (and i am running, honoustly!). Is there anything i might have missed?
Thanks in advance,
ingmar
