yes that's of course a disadvantage of the concept. Basically the "Hall of Fame" statistics are worsened by
- people not choosing the correct sport (I'll tell Tom to straighten out his trainings)
- trainings with very bad GPS quality (which also leads to wrong speeds and distances)
But we'll have to do with that and hopefully users will not take advantage of the fact that we cannot check what they're actually doing. I've heard of a GPS competition program for soaring that checks for the vibrations of an engine (which is not allowed to use). Maybe we'll integrate more plausibility checks later on.
Robert,
Neat feature - thanks for putting this together. One question, though...what prevents someone from 'accidentally' selecting the wrong (slower) sport and quickly rising through the ranks on the Hall of Fame?
I could leave mountainbiking selected, for instance and get in my car and drive for hundreds of miles a day. That would be hard to beat on a bike!
I ask since some of the leaders statistics seem a little too good to be true. Checking the 'walking' category, I see that your Run.GPS' own Tom is the top speed walker in all categories with an average speed of over 57mph!! I would like to see that.
