OS and radio ROM updated. GPS is working.

draconus (Steve),
Do you have to 'prime' your GPS prior to starting Run.GPS with one of the small programs like GPSViewer or QuickGPS?

I seem to have intermittent GPS signal problems if I just start Run.GPS without using GPSViewer for a few mins to get a fix.

ROM Upgrade on 6800

draconus,
I have been thinking about upgrading my ROM as well, but I like that my external GPS unit logs internally while sending info to the phone at the same time. This makes is easy to archive my GPS data in .kmz, .gpx and .csv formats so that I have some flexibilty for interrogating the info at a later date if I choose.

Do you think that a 6800 inside an aluminum hard case which is inside my pack would have signal strength issues with the internal GPS?
Also, which ROM upgrade did you use?

Thanks,
recneps

I just recently upgraded the ROM on my HTC-6800 which enabled the integrated GPS chip. I was immediately looking for a piece of software to track my bike rides and this software is leaps and bounds beyond my expectations.

The HTC-6800 is a great device for this software it is small and since GPS is integrated you do not need to carry a second device. Sound is great through my corded headphones and I can still answer a call if my phone happens to ring.

The only upgrade I might make is switching to a bluetooth headset down the road so I can secure my HTC-6800 in a waterproof pocket with no cords.
