couldn't agree to that. I have a gps clock (low budget a rival spoq) that has only a delay of max 5 seconds to start and stop training on base of speed. And the spoq gets position and speed details from gps, too like run.gps did.
But you must take into account that this would be very inaccurate. Speed calculation by GPS data is pretty inaccurate at slow speeds, so we have to use a big smoothing buffer. This in turn results in the speed being displayed only 1/2 minute after you gain that speed.
So, the training would be started at least 1/2 minute too late.
Again Nelske, I fully agree.
Most of the time I have to wait for my mates and not knowing how many time that is going to cost.
So I prefer also speed action.
Ons comment on the count down vs. speed reached:
Speaking for myself, the time to the start is variable (due to talking and waiting for others and such).
The speed on which to start is something which is not related to this time and (if it is variable) can be be set to meet the preferences of the person who sets it.
This person is has no influences on the time to the start but does on the 'triggerspeed'.
OK we'll put this on our feature request list. But I think a simple countdown would be more broadly usuable. For instance, start the training only after 10 seconds as an option.
This could already have been on the board, if so please delete topic ;).
Looking at my personal use of Run GPS I always find it hard to find the balance between starting my training on the app and stowing my phone away (in bagpack of something) and making my way to the actual physical start of the training.
This "in between time" of not wanting to stop again to grab my phone and press start training can be easy overcome though with the help of a delayed start feature with it automatically starting the training if preset X speed is met.
Per example: I go biking, stop at the parking spot, make ready all my stuff, start Run GPS with "Launchcontrol set to "Start at 20Km an hour) and stow my phone away.
After that I leisurely make my way to the actual staring point of the trail, and really start pedaling at the start, reaching the 20Km an hour.. on which RUN GPS is set and it starts the training.
