Oh good to hear. You can keep the 3.5 I think. We already use it and didn't see any problems with it yet. Some people claim it was faster than 2.0 but I can't confirm that either.
Thanks Robert for your efforts. I installed .NET CF 3.5. No sound either.
But...... I was checking and tried several settings of my TYTNII itself, the sw WM6.
In Settings, Personal, Sounds and Notifications, Sounds turn on for programs was disabled. After enabling this Run.GPS voice was awake. Lovely sound to hear again. So it has nothing to do with Run.GPS.
So, now I don't change anything and I discover no difference in .NET CF versions so far. So I keep the 3.5 version. Or can I better change it into 2.0 again because of the beta version of 3.5???
One little bug maybe: Voice output volume on 5% loudest en on 10% weakest. ???
I've got some feedback from other TYTNII users and Run.GPS voice output works on their devices. Must be some strange issue on your device. Maybe the .NET CF 3.5 helps.
@blizco: strange. We'll ask other customers with a TyTNII if voice output works on their devices.
The message regarding .NET already being installed is OK. You could try installing the latest .NET Compact Framework 3.5 Beta from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1343D537-A62F-4A6E-9727-7791BF4CC2BD&displaylang=en
@all: if you own a TyTNII, what is your experience?
Robert, I tried all versions you mentioned, but all sw versions have no voice output.
I even renamed all voice files into wav files, but even then no results.
My first version of RUNGPS worked well, about one year ago. I don't remember the first time when I had no voice what was changed. Other version RUNGPS or something else on my PDA?
Maybe something with NET Compact Framework.? During installation of the RUNGPS versions I got message that NET Compact Framework is already in ROM and cannot be installed.????
The wav files are renamed because otherwise Windows Media Player would find them and play them ... which is very annoying. But that used to be no problem. On all devices we have here for testing, playing the .00w files with Run.GPS works well.
So ... maybe this is a problem with volume control (this is actually the only thing that has been changed regarding sound output during the last 2 months). Please try out this special release with completely disabled volume control:
http://downloads.rungps.net/Setup_RunGPS_UV_EN_No_Volume.exe
Other ideas why there might be problems with voice output:
- not enough free memory
- maybe new .NET Compact Framework 3.5?
You may also try installing one of the old releases from http://www.rungps.net/wiki/OldVersionDownloadsEN just to see if using .wav files helps (these releases can be installed in parallel to the current release).
yes ... wav files work fine - but ... the type of all runGPS sound files is *.00w !
if you rename these files to *.wav all sounds will be played ... by other applications
but still no sound with runGPS ...!
