whilst I agree that it is not the best looking app, it is still by far the one with the best feature combination. And being German I care more about how it works than how it looks, although we seem to manage well in other products like cars ;-)
I have been using it for several years now and have not paid more money since the initial purchase, so considering that the revenue stream is only from new users they seem to be doing well enough to continue satisfying existing users and attracting new users.
I also don't think there are better apps for what I need, i.e. GPS based tracking, bluetooth heartrate monitor AND audio feedback. Plus with the app running on my phone I can listen to music as well.
The good news is that it is a very simple migration for former Win users. The user interface (UI) is very similiar.
BUT, if I was a new buyer looking for a Android GPS app, I'd be a bit disappointed. As others have noted here and on the Android market forum, the UI is old-fashioned and not very Android-like. At EUR25 its also very expensive. (For me, no, because I have had many many hours of fun/utility from Run.GPS over the years :)
My Motorola Defy+ came pre-loaded with Cardio Trainer. While this may be inferior technically and the program less-refined due to its 'young' age, its UI knocks spots off Run.GPS. It is also significantly cheaper.
Keep pedalling that development treadmill guys! And keep us informed of your route ;)
