The sampling frequency is device maximum. This normally makes sense because for the calculation of current values like speed you need as much data as you can get.
To save battery power, you'd have to set the sampling rate to say, 20 seconds, which would be much too long to get good data.

Hi, what is the GPS sampling interval used for Run.GPS on the WM6.5?
It appears that the GPS sampling interval is very frequent, resulting in a high battery drain rate.
Is it possible to include an option in the General settings or GPS settings to adjust the GPS sampling rate to suit the user or the activity training?
This could reduce the drain on the battery and smooth out the tracking maps a bit.
