You can set only one navigation target (route or a single placemark). So your lap will be split only in this spot. If you use a route for navigation the placemarker for splitting laps will be the end point of the route.
Thanks for the reply, but I that's definitely not what I want to do. I'm a road cyclist and the last thing I want to do is fiddle around pressing buttons on a phone which is in my back pocket anyway: I can be doing something like 30+ mph at one of my lap points.
The manual says it can be done under section 4.12, "Automatic Lap Detection" -- at least that's how I read it.
It sort-of works, but do I have to set each placemarker as a navigation target every time I use a particular route?
Hi Keith, I think you used the "placemarks" function instead of the "split laps" function. Just push the "Split" button when you want to start a new lap. The laps are also shown on the portal (yellow flags).
Hi, I'm a newbie to Run.GPS but I picked it up specifically because the manual says it supports lap markers. I went out on Tuesday and duly marked the points I wanted lap markers (placemarkers); went out again today and got audible comments that I was 59 yards (!) from the relevant points.
However, I expected those points would be mapped on the portal and would show the appropriate times: that's the point of laps, right? But they aren't.
