I have had the same problems on a HTC Desire 2.1. I have turned off the auto-screen option in the parameters of the phone and I press the hold button to switch off the screen during the run (I'm using the voice to have information during the run). Now, everything's works well and I experience nomore force close. If that can help someone...

Admin?

I have committed to a Trainer UV Full license on 2.3.7b build 2070 to show my support for the most configurable sports app available. I am impressed by your attention to serious performance data analysis, especially with heart rate monitors.

Force Close issues remain persistent in 2.3.7b build 2070 for Desire (2.2 FRF91). I've backed up Run.GPS directories and fixed permissions using ADB in Android SDK tools. Since my last post I have been able to upload training to portal, but it takes several attempts.

I have found that when faced with the "Sorry" FC pop-up, it is better to choose "Report" than "Force Close", then re-enter the app to exit manually. The only times all user data and settings were lost came after choosing the FC button in the pop-up.

FCs occur often when customizing options, editing user data, exporting and uploading. The app is more stable when I am not interacting with it, (e.g. screen is off/standby) as the user below reported. For testing purposes, I am using this app only after a fresh handset reboot.

Is this the correct channel to report these issues? Also, is there a place where your devs list known issues and works-in-progress?

Force closes

On my EVO / Froyo I used to get similar force closes. I found that repeated screen presses / or pressing the back or home buttons would cause them.

I'd run with the phone in my hand, and once the phone got sweaty, it would wreak havoc with the capacitive screen.

Shutting the screen off was the only was I could solve this. When biking, I use an armband to mount it to the handlebars, which keeps my hands off and I can check status on screen.

HTC Desire running 2.2 force closing, rebooting and total loss of user data

I am experiencing Force Close events with 2.3.7b Build 2070 on HTC Desire running Froyo 2.2.

FC happens every time when attempting session uploads. Twice the FCs were catastrophic, resulting in complete loss of user data after sudden reboot. When phone didn't reboot, the FC results in missing menu titles (beneath icons). To fix missing text, I chose "Exit application" and restarted the app.

I have to agree with @stonev. Expecting users to pay 40 Euro within 14 days to continue using an app that is not ready is too much. You should release this for free as a "Beta" version and set up a specific support channel for users to help the developers out. I could send you logcat outputs and provide feedback. But I cannot see paying 40 Euro, one of the highest priced apps in the Market, for an app that is not ready for regular use.

-*edit*-I purchased Trainer UV Full for 15 Euro, an option I previously hadn't seen because I access the Android Market in Sweden.-*edit*-

Let me know if I can help.

Hi,

I'm really impressed with RunGPS for Android, very nice indeed.

I cycle to and from work (approx 10 miles) and I can pretty much guarantee that I will get one force close along the way at some point each journey.

A colleague has just started cycling in and his was apparently quite frequently doing the force-close thing.

How can we help get logs or something to the developers to try and help improve things for future releases?

Regards
Matt.
