Yes thats right. It will turn off the screen.
And just wait for the next version. This will turn off the screen, after 15 sec as long the lock button is active.

Does this mean its not putting the phone totally into standby (Gps off) but just turning off the display. If this is the case then the accidental unlocking may be solved as it would be rare that power button and then unlock on display was pressed unkowingly.

I don't mean to diverge from this but if we're talking about functionality then I constantly get a Bluetooth splash screen everytime I start rungps as I use the Hxm HRM. I've already paired the unit multiple times (even forcing a connection before starting run gps) but the splashscreen still appears asking me to select a device to use or add a new one. This is also annoying as it takes almost 10sec and multiple presses to get through this screen and as I sometimes don't use the Hxm I have to hit cancel and wait longer. I've posted this in Hxm area to see if other users get the same.

You need to configure it in the options "completely turn off screen"...

EDIT: No problem at all with the Hd2 and disaply off function.
And in the next version we have also an auto display off feature,
if you press the power button during the training.
It will automatically turn of the screen again after 15s.
(As long the button screen lock is set)

How do you make the screen dim when pressing the Run GPS lock icon?
slider34 04.02.2010 12:43:17 UTC

No and its annoying as the HD2 turns off the gps in standby. Even though the program still runs it fails to keep track of your position.

You can't assign hardware buttons on the HD2 but if gps was still to run with the device in standby it would overcome the problem as once its turned back on the slider unlock comes up as usual.

To lock the device I usually fumble for the tiny rungps screen lock which I've set to dim the display to save the precious battery. This has, as you've said, unlocked itself with messy consequences once I realised it had. Also very annoying part way through a training run as you've no doubt experienced.

Anyone has the lock thing nicely configured on a HTC HD2?

Hi dennistp22,

An "auto start" that trims out the inactive time since you pressed START until you actually start moving would be a great feature! The ability to crop the exceeding inactive time before STOP was pressed would also be nice! It's a good idea!

On my HTC Touch (ELF0100 - WM 6.5) I lock the screen by pressing the soft button (yellow padlock on toolbar) and then enter standby by pressing the hardware power button. It works fine and the only drawback is that WMplayer should be playing something on your earphones otherwise Run.GPS voice output won't work. All the track and HR recording run normally while in stanby.

Sounds great. What checkbox do you click to use it? Can you choose your own button, or how do you know what button it is? (I have a HTC HD2)

On my device (HTC Touch Cruise) the hardware key (down arrow for 3 secs) locks everything (keys and screen off) and it has never once turned itself on by accident. Works really well and saves a lot of battery.

I have seen something about it, but I have not dived into it. Although I suppose that the hardware button might be pressed accidentatly in the pocket just as easily as the on-screen button?

How have you set up the lock functionality and how well do you think it works?
