I recommend to relax on this matter and to wait and see how it works. I don´t mind about a few "false positives" as long as a marathon is recorded with 37 km instead of 42,2 km. Although, when I think about it, the missing 5 km could have probaly gained me 1 or 2 ranks... ;-)) not serious!!!

Good to hear that the filter seems to be working. But...I am left to ask the question of how many "false positives" are there with this new filter? In other words, since no 'filter' is 100% accurate, you will either let some bad trainings through or you will filter out some legitimate trainings (assuming the user even notices). What happens then?

BTW - I am only posting as an objective opinion point of view, since I rarely appear on the rankings :)

When I first raised the issue of people in the leaderboards who had not earned that space, I thought that modification to the software was in order - enforcing acceleration/velocity/distance limits...but this adds complexity to the software and makes it very administratively-oriented (admins have to constantly respond to forum entries where someone thinks that the limit value should be something else).

Why not a community-driven ranking system? Simply allow each user the ability to indicate a single 'thumbs-up' or 'thumbs-down' response to any other training (like Pandora). Trainings with more 'thumbs-down' ratings would drop off the leaderboards, and a user with enough trainings that have been dropped would no longer even be considered for the leaderboards. Users impressed with another user's training would give a 'thumbs-up' which would help prevent a user with bad intentions from randomly handing out 'thumbs-down' ratings. This makes the ranking system community driven and allows the admins to get on with improving the actual software.

still unplausible trainings left

Have a look at this: http://www.gps-sport.net/trainings/driving_77441
This guy, at the hall of fame, is fastest over 10,000 last 12 months with this training.
I think it is a bit difficult to drive 320km/h across the countryside without any asphalt below.

@Tom: I hope I give you a future ideea then. I'm surprised myself how quickly I've started to like this community. Maybe that little mistake was benefic on a long time basis. Transparency would always bring more people in.

@actuar: Thanks for your offer. Right now we can process only the "meta data", not the actual training/track data. So it's not possible yet to compute values like standard deviation :-( But maybe in a later version.

want help

@Tom: if you need help in building a better measure for judging every training I can help. I'm an actuary (pricing insurance products which are random variable [more complicated than thouse]) and I would gladly help.

We can even add credibility theory and marking every training (yes giving a mark like 8.5). Then one can bulid hall of fames only for training marked above 9 or...

I'm not saying further, only that in certifying data you need measures like mode, mean, median, standard deviation, outliers. Max and min are not good and robust measures..

@Mike: I presume this is because the early beta of the Android version had this problem. But there should be a filter for this too (no training recording should have a duration > 24 hours)

Rollerbladen kanpp bemessen

der Eintrag für Rollerbladen add( new SportConstraint("rollerblading", 1.0, 40, 42.195, 35, 120) );
ist eher knapp. ich würde den so schreiben: add( new SportConstraint("rollerblading", 1.0, 45, 42.195, 40, 150) );
