I have made a German short instruction manual for the gMapMaker; I concentrated on useful settings for biking and some backgroud stuff for geo-coordinates. It is available as PDF if you write me: jdr01(at)web.de
Hello!
I was testing the tool successfully. What I did not fully understand the other following two topics:
a) the format of the latitude and longitude seems to be a little bit fuzzy to me and I needed five or more trials to get it right. A little pop-up window, although showing the acceptable formats, disappears too fast for my readings.
b) For cycling I need a net of 50 x 50 kilometres. or bigger. I'm using the zoom factor of 14. I found that only a part of the defined area is represented in the final JPEG maps (the lower left part). The final map tiles represent not even a rectangular or square cut out together. How can I become assured thad that I am getting the full area?
b1) The limits of the map tiles are not exactly congruent with the chosen parameters. There is a significant part of the map tiles generated outside the defined area. (up to 10 km or so...)
I am using the cursor in Google earth to define the longitude/latitude.
I made a few tests with Map2Xml Converter it works well, but i have to do some manual changes to XML file:
1. I had to change , --> . example: 14,62581 --> 14.62581
2. and I had to create space between (...version="1.0"encoding...) --> version="1.0" space encoding
Can you fix this?
Thank you very much. With this fixes you will save me a lot of time.
Upon first start with the new gmi files the gmi files are converted to xml files. If you have 277 xml files all have to be read at startup so it's normal it takes some time.
This is hard to change - if we'd use an index file for the calibration information we wouldn't get notice if one of the calibration files was changed ...
The OpenStreetMap data is faster to handle because for OpenStreetMaps the file system is the index and the map tiles all have defined sizes. This is not possible for maps that can have any size and resolution.
I have manualy created *.gmi file for Map Calibrator (beside jpg raster map), splited to slices 1000*1000 px, copied 277 files to SD card and now when I start run.GPS it needs 15 seconds for "Scanning for maps..." (not for the first time - for the first time it needs about minute..)
But when I use only OpenStreetMap data (i have deleted those map files) it needs only 2 seconds for "Scanning for maps.."
Hi,
I haven't modify the proxy bug yet but I've working few hours on another project : an Map2Xml Converter.
If somebody intresting you can douwnload here : http://toniolol.free.fr/download.php?view.13 Now it's just an alpha or beta project...
If you want to give me a feedback it will be a good thing for me :p
Now it's only work with .map created in WGS 84.
Maybe MapProjection must be in one state but I don't know yet what state....
You could come back to see evolutions here on the news page of my website.
