| Description: | Another fantastic ride/day, right in our own backyard. Myself, Will, and Martin (Team Cheese?) picked up the official Tour de Vuache route which starts/finishes in Annecy. Doesnt go that high (so, good for winter), but lots of hills totalling 1700 m of ascent over 127 km of mainly car-free country lanes. This area is simply beautiful and -despite it being less than 30 mins by car- most people in Geneva dont even know it exists!
By the time we reached the village of Clemont it was lunch time, so we dined at the historic chateau (as all good cyclists should), before setting off for the second leg around the back of the Vuache in the opposite direction to which we normally go. It amazing what you miss just going one way all the time; the views from the south of the gorge where the Rhone river cuts through the Vuache/Jura are magnificent and Mont Blanc from the Vuache in the afternoon sunshine simply stunning. |
