The end of the tour train ride back to Geneva along the lake. Just in time to avoid the storms. Generally the Gods smiles upon me for the whole trip with little rian and tail winds

| Description: | After a great nights sleep in wonderfully quiet Gruyere and a bumper breakfast, a fantastic and beautiful ride up the Gruyere valley and over the mountains to the head of Lake Geneva and the Rhone valley via Lake Hongrin and Les Agites at 1500m.
During a late lunch at the tiny village of Luan on the descent I learned from the very nice cafe owner that the military-controlled section from the lake to the pass is normally closed to civilians (see link for details) but for some reason I was very lucky and they had opened it today. I wondered why there was no one around! Id recommend this section to anyone for car-free isolated picturesque riding and it could be easily built in to a days loop. The 1000 m ascent at average of 8 from Aigle would be a very challenging :) |
