I agree. And then the crop and facebook/twitter thing of course ;-)

A facelift for the web site is long overdue (http://www.gps-sport.net/forums/thread/840-0/Website-is-looking-very-tired) and should- IMHO- be a top priority for the developers now. Even more so than the software which is now pretty mature.

1. Nothing's never as easy as one hopes...

2. In addition to the Facebook/Twitter thing, it should also post a link on Facebook/Twitter when you start a traning so people can watch the live thing. I think that the live thing is really cool, and something that could help market Run GPS alot.

3. If you're serious about getting a new design (which I think you should be) I think you should announce a design competition. Be sure to spread the news about it in an e-mail and here in the forum. Also specify the rules (like for example no new functionality just redesign of current) and offer a prize (for example a Run GPS license for life and a Neoprene armband). I've done similar competitions in a forum I run, and using members can be a powerfull thing!

1. Well I wouldn't exactly call it pretty easy because there's a lot of side effects that need to be taken into account. If you provide a function for cropping on the portal, everything has to be recomputed: meta data (start time, time, ..), diagrams, statistics, .... I guess it would take 2-3 working days.

2. I guess it wouldn't be hard to do ... maybe we can make a test soon. It's described here:
http://developers.facebook.com/get_started.php

3. Good suggestions are welcome! But please keep in mind that the functionality behind it should not be changed too much - because right now we don't have the time to do a complete technical reengineering of the system.

1. If it helps, the cropping of time could be done only in the gps-sport.net portal rather than in the actual Run GPS program. Should be pretty easy I believe?

2. To bad nobody wanted to help out. Unfortunateley I don't know programming enough to help out either.

3. To me at least, the gps-sport site is where I interact with Run GPS. I mean after a training session I just synch and close Run GPS down. Then I spend time in gps-sport.net with my statistics, routes etc. Therefore I think spending time on improving the portal is crucial. Why not start a competition where you ask members to send in design suggestions? Then other members can vote on what design they prefer. If you also like it you've saved time and made sure that the members gets what they want.

1) Not easy to implement, but we'll discuss the issue for one of the next releases.

2) That would be nice yes (also see http://www.gps-sport.net/forums/thread/684-0/)

3) Our main intention was to keep this site simple but we know that the design could be improved, yes :-)

About 1. - Yes the Active time helps you get statistics for the time you've moved. But I wanted the time cropped because when you take compititions on routes, the "high score list" does not show active time. Also I think the training data would be "cleaner" without the before and after time.

Hi,

1. You can set the "pause" to a low value, perhaps 5-10sec. The active time and speed will only count the moving time.
3. I can help too, on any gfx work!

Just realized that half of the comments actually are in the wrong category... Well, well...

Hi,

here are threee ideas for improvement of the Run GPS (the first I've shared earlier, but in the wrong category...). Feel free to comment.

1. I often have 30 sek-5 min of time in the beginning and end of training sessions on which I don't really train (getting all gear in position, forgetting to turn off etc). It would be great to have a setting that crops out training in the beginning and the end of the session on which you're not moving.

2. When synchronizing training an "Share on Facebook/Twitter" checkbox would be great. It would send a short status message, for example "Dennis just trained cycling in Stockholm, Sweden with Run GPS. Length: 25 km, Avg. speed: 28 km/h. Link to training report". It would be a fun and simple way of sharing what you do, and would be great marketing for Run GPS.

3. Improve the look of the gps-sport site. Don't get me wrong here, I'm really glad the site exists and I love using it. But it could look a lot better, which would make the experience more pleasant for the users and probably help recruit more users. (maybe I could help on this one)
